Alok Singh

Postdoctoral Researcher


Dr. Alok Dharmraj Singh is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Cody Smith’s laboratory at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. His research focuses on understanding how inhaled contaminants and pollutants cause lung disease.

He completed his B. Pharmacy in 2015 and M. Pharmacy (Pharmacology) in 2017 from Mumbai University, India, and earned his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from SVKM’S NMIMS in Mumbai, India. His doctoral research investigated the therapeutic effects of traditional medicine in animal models related to diabetic complications. Throughout his PhD, he collaborated with various industries on preclinical studies.

His research experience includes work with animal models for PCOS, metabolic dysregulation, ICV-induced neurodegenerative disorders, arthritis, and psoriasis. He has authored approximately 10 research articles, filed one patent application in India, and received international travel support from DST-SERB, India.

As a registered pharmacist, Dr. Alok is a member of the Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS) and the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). In addition to his research activities, he has taught pharmacology and pathophysiology courses. His diverse experience in both research and teaching demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical sciences and their practical applications.
